BLUE CARRIER 2 on fire north of Mykonos. All 29 off
Attica Ferries, 25 September: fire on the cargo–vehicle ferry BLUE CARRIER 2 at 08.57, under way north of Mykonos on the scheduled run. Crew used the ship’s own gear. Organised evacuation by the ship’s own means.

On board: 28 crew and one passenger, a truck driver. All well.
Hellenic Coast Guard the same day: Φ/Γ-Ο/Γ BLUE CARRIER 2, Greek register N.Π. 12920. Position 4.5 nautical miles north of Mykonos and 7.5 east of Tinos. Route on that paper: Piraeus – Syros – Vathy – Kos – Rhodes – Kos – Piraeus. Cargo: 166 trucks and 29 private cars. The 29 left in two lifeboats, then a Coast Guard patrol boat to Tinos. All well.
Maritime Executive writes they were picked up by passing ships. The Coast Guard paper writes the patrol boat. Those two pickup lines stay unmerged. Maritime Executive also writes Syros to Samos. That is not the HCG itinerary.
Attica follow-up: after the 29 were off, specialised firms assigned for the environment and the ship. The firms are not named on that paper.
eKathimerini, 26 September: fire subsided. Slight list to starboard from the water used to cool the plates. Next work is to pump out and get a team inside. Tug Aigaion Pelagos still cooling. Fire “reportedly” started in a truck in garage number 4. Cause is not on the HCG or Attica products.
VesselFinder particulars: BLUE CARRIER 2, IMO 9125384, Greece, Ro-Ro cargo, 1997, 162 m. That retrieve is a stale index copy with an old Piraeus ETA. It is not a scene fix.
Why a garage fire is the problem
A Ro-Ro garage is a closed box of fuel, tyres and cargo. Once the deck goes, the crew fights heat they cannot see. Water from outside cools the shell and puts weight on one side. That is the list eKathimerini printed. SOLAS II-2/20, as amended by MSC.550(108) from 1 January 2026, tightens detection and video in vehicle spaces on new cargo ships. This hull is 1997. No clip says which rule set binds BLUE CARRIER 2 on a Greek domestic run.
