Tura is an FSU. The gas turns back to vapour in Buga
LNG Prime, 9 September: Exmar’s converted floating storage unit Tura, about 146,000 m³, is en route to Colombia for Regasificadora Del Pacífico’s west-coast import project.

Diario Occidente, 8 September, from RdP: TURA sailed from a Chinese yard that day. Arrival printed 7 October, subject to the passage. Storage 145,896.44 m³. Length 285.40 m, beam 45.63 m. Marshall Islands. Lloyd’s CAP Grade 1. Four tanks, GTT NO96. The Buga plant at El Vínculo printed above 80 percent, 60 million cubic feet a day to start, expandable to 180.
Those two cubic-metre figures stay written as printed.
Exmar company note, 18 September 2025: contracts with RDP for an FSU on Colombia’s west coast. Ecopetrol term volume 60 MMCFD. The chain in that note is not a shipboard vaporizer. LNG from a carrier into the FSU. Offload into isotainers. Barge to Buenaventura. Trucks to the Buga plant. Gas into the national grid there. Exmar lease and O&M, five years firm plus options. Signed at Eemshaven. FID and conditions still open in that 2025 note, lift expected Q4 2025.
Riviera, 7 August 2026: Tura, formerly Ummera, 2005-built, 145,896 m³, Daewoo / now Hanwha. Exmar expected operations Q3 2026.
Colombia MinEnergia, 16 July 2026: minister Edwin Palma at the works; plant above 80 percent; start printed late 2026. Second import door. Ends sole dependence on one existing LNG import terminal.
World Energy News (Reuters), 21 August 2026: project director Mauricio Gómez — start slipped 22 to 30 days toward 1 November after a 7.4 earthquake damaged the port and roads. Plant itself not damaged. Kit diverted via Peru and Panama. Force majeure talk with Ecopetrol. Ecopetrol had not answered Reuters.
VesselFinder: TURA IMO 9308431. Not in the Exmar 2025 PR.
FSU, FSRU, shore tank. Three different machines
An FSRU is a ship that stores LNG and turns it back to gas at the rail. Tanks, vaporizer, send-out, and a hose or hard-arm to a shore pipe. The jetty can be a simple dolphin. The plant lives on the hull.
An FSU is tanks only. Tura is that. The vapour plant for this project is inland at Buga. The ship’s job is to take the cargo and wait.
A shore terminal is concrete tanks, a jetty, compressors, and a pipeline right-of-way. Years of permits and pours. An FSRU or FSU is a hull that already exists. Charter it, convert it, steam it. Exmar signed in September 2025. RdP printed the ship leaving China on 8 September 2026.
That speed is why Egypt parked Energos Winter at Damietta and why it is now looking for a second hull at Ain Sokhna. One FSRU off the berth and the send-out stops. See Energos Winter. This Buenaventura chain puts the vaporizer inland. The ship can leave. The plant stays.
