MPA: they hit on 17 September. The fisher took water
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, 22 September, to CNA: a collision on 17 September in the Singapore Strait between the China-registered fishing vessel Lu Qing Yuan Yu and the Panama-registered bulk carrier First Margaux.

MPA: the fishing vessel took on water and stayed afloat and stable. The crew managed it on board. She was towed to Raffles Reserved Anchorage. Essential crew stayed for the tow. SCDF moved the rest to shore. No reported injuries on either ship. No pollution. Traffic not stopped. Safety broadcasts for the tow.
MPA writes Lu Qing Yuan Yu. The painted and registry name is LU QING YUAN YU 108 (IMO 8686472), China, 2014, 496 GT. FIRST MARGAUX (IMO 9933250), Panama, 229 m, 82,276 DWT, built 2023. Write both forms.
The video went around on 20 September. The date on the authority paper is 17 September. Those two days stay two days. Mercogliano’s MarineTraffic recording is stamped 17 September on the frames. That matches MPA, not the first social post date.
What the clips show
Deck video from the small ship: FIRST MARGAUX painted on the closing bow. Water over the camera deck. A second clip: a white-and-red fishing house listing, IMO 8686472 on the side, FIRST MARGAUX / PANAMA / 9933250 on the departing stern.
A later cut, posted 22 September with an ABC News graphic and the line “Social media via Reuters” on the frame, shows the same geometry — black hull, red boot, white house pressed against a small white fisher with a blue tarp. Anton put that cut first. It is still social video with a wire overlay, not an MPA film.
What the reconstructions add
Maritime Executive, 20 September, from AIS: First Margaux left an east-side anchorage westbound about 0800 GMT. The fisher left off Sentosa and went south. Both reached the westbound TSS toward Malacca. The fisher ahead. The bulker two to three knots faster. Contact around 0900 GMT on the fisher’s starboard quarter. The fisher kept transmitting. The bulker ran west about two hours at ten knots, then turned back and anchored.
Sal Mercogliano: one camera is one view. In his telling the bulker was in the TSS lane, Gas Iris was coming in to starboard, the fisher entered the lane, and that made First Margaux the overtaking ship. A port turn, he says, could have put the fisher between the two. A starboard turn was coming for Singapore. That is his reconstruction. MPA has not assigned cause.
Gas Iris is on the plot. She is not a collision party on the MPA paper.
Some social cuts say the bulker sank. She did not. MPA has her as a party to a collision, not a wreck.
