Eni’s statement is dated 29 August; ANCAP’s is dated 28 August. Eni is operator with 50 percent. MIWEN holds the remaining 50 percent as non-operating partner.

OFF-5 is in its first exploration period. Studies to mature the area’s hydrocarbon potential are underway. Eni says it will continue the evaluation MIWEN had already begun. This is not a final investment decision.

Eni also says it has reached an agreement to acquire a 40 percent interest in the adjacent OFF-6 block, operated by APA Corporation. Infobae notes the OFF-5 transaction completes an approval path YPF announced in November 2025.

Eni and YPF are already partners in the Argentina LNG (ARGLNG) project. That is a separate file. No named hull or drilling unit is attached to this week’s OFF-5 paper.
